A very special private Mornington tour and Marriage Proposal at Cape Schanck Lighthouse

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of providing one of our classic Jaguars for a very special Mornington Peninsula tour. This wasn’t any ordinary tour but included a very romantic marriage proposal at the Cape Schank lighthouse.
Austin contacted us earlier in the year about organising a private tour for himself and his girlfriend, what was really special about his request was that he was going to pop the big question and ask his girlfriend Lizzie to marry him. Austin lives in Texas and was only visiting Australia for a week so we really wanted to create something special for him in a location that would be unforgettable.
After numerous emails back and forth we came up with the plan for him to propose on the balcony at the Cape Schank lighthouse.
We organised a private tour with Janice and also had a fresh bouquet of flowers hidden in the lighthouse for Austin to give to Lizzie.
We also organised an itinerary for the rest of the day. Read on below to see how the day unfolded.

Cape Schanck Lighthouse- Private Tour
On the day we collected Austin and Lizzie from their accommodation in the city in our luxurious Jaguar MkX which is perfect for long drives as its so comfortable and smooth. We had great conversation on this 1.5hr drive and got to learn all about the couple, their lives back in Texas and i got to tell them about Australia. The best part of tours is meeting people from all over the world and showing them the best that Victoria has to offer.
Arriving at the lighthouse carpark Austin’s nerves were starting to kick in, fortunately Lizzie had no idea about the big surprise he had planned for her.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely Janice (The Lady of History) who conducts regular lighthouse tours. Janice was instrumental in  helping us plan the whole experience. She is an expert in Lighthouse history and really paints a picture of history with her enthusiasm.
After making their way up the steep staircase to the balcony of the Lighthouse Austin got down on one knee and declared his love to Lizzie in a poem on the lighthouse balcony. And of course, she said YES!!
After the excitement of the proposal the two enjoyed a brief lesson on the history of the lighthouse in the museum with Janice telling one story after another.
 The Cups Estate – Mornington
After leaving the Lighthouse we made the short journey up the road to The Cups Estate in Mornington, what a beautiful venue this is and well worth visiting for both the food and the view. The restaurant is situated on a hill overlooking the vineyards and olive groves looking across the rolling hills of the Peninsula. Friendly staff and delicious food, wine made on site and a relaxed atmosphere is what this establishment is known for. Our two lovebirds enjoyed their romantic lunch while spreading the news of their engagement to their friends and family back home in America.

Blairgowrie Jumping Rock
After lunch our next stop was the Blairgowrie Jumping rock, a stunning secluded beach with a giant cliff and rock pool below.
Lizzie and Austin got changed into more appropriate swimming gear and made their way to the beach for a refreshing 10 meter high leap into the beautiful deep water below. Its a scary jump but well worth it and somewhere we definitely want to visit again this summer.

 Port Phillip Bay Coastal Tour
Now for the long drive back home, we opted to take the  scenic coastal route back to the city so we could show off the beauty of the Port Phillip bay coastline and let them see why Australia is renowned for it’s beaches. The relaxed drive back included Sorrento, Rosebud with a quick stop in Dromana for an ice cream. We then made our way past Mt Eliza, Frankston and then down through St Kilda with a quick loop of the city.
It was an absolute pleasure to spend the whole day with this amazing couple and helping Austin plan this day.
If you have a special tour in mind be sure to contact us as we would love to show you around Victoria in the comfort of a classic cars.
